Chiswick School is beautifully located in the heart of W4 with surrounding fields on its spacious grounds. Chiswick School is located beside the famous Chiswick house and has adopted a picture of the house as its logo. Most of the buildings are new, however the North Eastern block still remains from the original girls’ school. Before the school was built a farm was on the site.
Chiswick school now the only state secondary school in Chiswick, opened as Chiswick county schools for girls in Burlington Lane in 1916. Ten years later Chiswick county school for boys opened on an adjacent site. The two schools merged to become a co-educational grammar school in 1966,and in 1968 amalgamated with the secondary modern school in Stavley Road to become a comprehensive.
On 1 March 2012, Chiswick Community School changed from a local authority school to an Academy, to reflect this change the school’s name changed from Chiswick Community School to Chiswick School, the name it had when it first became a comprehensive school.
