So, this week we have Black Friday upon us. The first year we had one, it was very exciting and a great chance to get some Christmas Shopping done, but gradually the excitement has waned, and like other commercially driven events (Valentines Day, Mothers/Fathers Day, Easter and unfortunately, Christmas) it has become another retail spend-fest.
This year for me has been all about not spending… making use of what I already have, and supporting locally produced products, sold in small independent outlets. I’ve followed the progress of our locally reared beef and purchased my veg from the community garden here in the village where I live, or from a local farm shop. Its made me realise that it isn’t about what we own, but how we live. Seeing all the children at the school getting so excited and passionate about their football classes, and the time devoted to training them by their coaches makes me really happy. The sports facilities are so well used at Moulton School and Science college. Instead of rushing out buying ‘stuff’, start a hobby, join a class, learn something new. We have Roller Derby, Badminton, Football,American Football, Clubbercise. Joining us in the New Year will be Hockey and indoor cricket practise.
Facilities are reasonable to hire, and you have our team on site to help if needed. So go for it! I still have spaces available in the Sports Complex and I’m running half price facilities on a Friday, which is our quietest evening. Call or email me and we can find the best deal for you!
