Welcome back to another week of our Schools Plus Interview series – Who do you think we are?
In this weekly series, members of the Schools Plus team will be asked a series of questions about them and their job here at Schools Plus. We thought this would be a great way to find out more about our staff. There is a huge array of jobs and people within the company and every interview will be vastly different. You will get an insight into their day to day life, their time before working here and a bit more about the team.
Who are you?
Alex Craven
What is your role at Schools Plus?
My role is Venue Manager. I currently look after four sites – Abraham Moss Community School, Dixons Allerton Academy, Manchester Enterprise Academy Central and Manchester Enterprise Academy Wythenshawe.
As Schools Plus is all over the country where are you based?
I am based in Bradford but also manage 3 schools in Manchester.
How long have you worked for Schools Plus?
As of October 2018 it will be 4 years since I joined the company.
What did you do before you worked at Schools Plus?
I have always worked in retail whilst as a Student and after leaving University. I have also had a few part-time jobs working in Sports related roles.
What is your favourite part about working for Schools Plus?
I love the variety and flexibility of the role – you never know what each day will hold.
Can you describe a typical working day for you?
Every day is different depending on whether I need to be working a shift to cover the sites or doing a site visit and checking up on staff, however I always start by turning on my phone and computer to check emails and messages for anything urgent that requires immediate attention. The rest of the day comprises of liaising with customers or the Schools, managing customers and their bookings, working alongside the customer contact centre for new enquiries coming through to them, as well as anything else that might come along.
What do you think the future holds for Schools Plus?
The company has grown some much in the last few years and there is a lot more growth to be done. We will continue to grow and streamline the way we work in order to provide our customers with the best service possible.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Most of my spare time is taken up by my two children. However, I really enjoy cooking and baking, so I like trying my hand at new recipes when I get the chance. I have also got back into going to the gym and swimming whenever possible.
You are a crayon in the box what colour would you be and why?
I would be one of the multi-colour stacking crayons – variety is essential and being able to adjust to the requirements of the business is essential!
Finally, what is your favourite song and why?
I don’t really have a favourite song as I like all different types of music and my current playlist has a very varied mix of music. My youngest currently enjoys rocking out to a bit of Queen whereas my eldest isn’t as keen, so there are always arguments in the car as to what music is played.
