Welcome back to another week of our Schools Plus Interview series – Who do you think we are?
In this weekly series, members of the Schools Plus team will be asked a series of questions about them and their job here at Schools Plus. We thought this would be a great way to find out more about our staff. There is a huge array of jobs and people within the company and every interview will be vastly different. You will get an insight into their day to day life, their time before working here and a bit more about the team.
Who are you?
My Name is Michelle Lucas! I have 3 teenage children and recently moved from Essex to Norfolk.
What is your role at Schools Plus?
I am a multi site venue manager.
As Schools Plus is all over the country where are you based?
I am based in my home county of Norfolk, with Schools in Norwich and Thetford.
How long have you worked for Schools Plus?
I have worked for Schools Plus for 15 months. I joined as a Venue Manager when Schools Plus moved into Norfolk.
What did you do before you worked at Schools Plus?
I spent over 10 years as a retail area manager, managing up to 30 sites across Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk and Hertfordshire. I spent these 10’years working for 2 big high street retailers.
What is your favourite part about working for Schools Plus?
I am truly inspired by the company values which are motivational and. I love working for a company who Look after their Employees and also the schools we work with. I am able to use my skills to develop my business with the trust and support of my line manager and senior leadership team, knowing that they are there to guide me in the right direction when needed. I feel I am valued and respected and given the right amount of autonomy to deliver my objectives effectively.
Can you describe a typical working day for you?
At Schools Plus each day is different. There are many hats I need to wear as a venue manager including leading and motivating my team, customer and client liaison, Marketing and commercialisation, leading operational excellence amongst many other responsibilities. Depending on the priorities of the day and week my duties vary.
What do you think the future holds for Schools Plus?
Schools Plus goes from strength to strength. The development and transition the company has gone through since I joined is incredible. I am confident we will help many more schools in 2019 to generate additional income to run their schools and ensure their pre-existing customers received a first class experience.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
With 3 teenage children and a full time job, spare time is a rare luxury but when I do get some time for myself; I play netball with the netball team I manage or indulge in baking.
You are a crayon in the box what colour would you be and why?
My favourite colour is yellow, I love the sunshine ☀️
Finally, what is your favourite song and why?
I have a couple of all time favourites and in 2019 I will be Seeing 2 of my favourite artists live for the first time who are very different – Boys 2 men and Bon Jovi.
Bon Jovi’s Always is one that me and my hubby often sing along to in the car and has become ‘Our Song’.
