Welcome back to another week of our Schools Plus Interview series – Who do you think we are?
In this weekly series, members of the Schools Plus team will be asked a series of questions about them and their job here at Schools Plus. We thought this would be a great way to find out more about our staff. There is a huge array of jobs and people within the company and every interview will be vastly different. You will get an insight into their day to day life, their time before working here and a bit more about the team.
Who are you?
I am Sophie from the Customer Contact Centre.
What is your role at Schools Plus?
I am the Team Lead for the enquiries and the renewals team at the Contact Centre.
As Schools Plus is all over the country where are you based?
Sunny Bournemouth.
How long have you worked for Schools Plus?
Just over a year now, since the second week of September 2017.
What did you do before you worked at Schools Plus?
Before Schools Plus, I worked in recruitment for a sales and marketing company based in Norwich. Previously, to that I worked alongside my degree at Joseph Banks Laboratories at the University of Lincoln with the Athena Swan Project encouraging and teaching year seven girls to enjoy STEM, as general lab tech working in various specialist labs and within their marketing department whilst studying Forensic Science.
What is your favourite part about working for Schools Plus?
I love how different and varied my day can be and the at the end of the day, doing a sales tally and realising how much money we have roughly raised for schools.
Can you describe a typical working day for you?
I typically get into the office for around 8:15/8:20am to open. I then run morning meetings for my teams at 8:45am. Then I complete our statistics for the previous day, and begin our day working on various email enquiries, overseeing the renewals team and answering the many telephone calls which come through throughout the day.
What do you think the future holds for Schools Plus?
I think Schools Plus could go into multiple directions and each one is very exciting. It’s been great to see the team grow and develop over the past year and in the future, we will probably expand more. We’re heading into a new office coming into the new year – which is already something to look forward too.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I currently do a lot of relaxing with at least one gym session a week. On Friday’s I head down to a karate-based self-defence class which is super fun. I’m also a bit of a foodie and enjoy the odd restaurant or two. I’m also a bit of a sucker for a good TV show and I enjoy planning out my next trip aboard.
You are a crayon in the box what colour would you be and why?
I would be that weird specific shade of mint green I am rather partial too.
Finally, what is your favourite song and why?
Currently, it’s Drunk Groove by MARUV, Boosin or EASE by Troye Sivan as I find the beat rather great to zone out too and it wakes me up in the mornings. However, I usually have some Imagine Dragons, Hollywood Undead, Lorde or more Troye Sivan playing.
