Welcome back to another week of our Schools Plus Interview series – Who do you think we are?
In this weekly series members of the Schools Plus team will be asked a series of questions about them and their job here at Schools Plus. We thought this would be a great way to find out more about Schools Plus staff. There is a huge array of jobs and people here at Schools Plus so every interview will be totally different. You will get an insight into their day to day life, their time before working here and a bit more about the team.
Who are you?
What is your role at Schools Plus?
My title at Schools Plus is Sales and Marketing but my job role is definitely more focused on the marketing and social side of things both for the company as a whole and all of our sites.
As Schools Plus is all over the country where are you based?
I work mostly at the Schools Plus office in Bournemouth and then some days from home.
How long have you worked for Schools Plus?
I’ve worked for Schools Plus for 8 months starting in the summer of 2017.
What did you do before you worked at Schools Plus?
Before joining Schools Plus last Summer I was running my own business; freelance writing, social media management and online influencing.
What is your favourite part about working for Schools Plus?
For me my favourite thing about working for the company has been joining at a time when the company is expanding and changing. Also having the flexibility and ability to work from home and in the Bournemouth office fits in perfectly with family life, I am super grateful for this.
Can you describe a typical working day for you?
Once I’ve done the school run I head into the office and get myself sorted for the day. Usually this starts with replying to any emails that came through the evening before and setting myself a little list of things I’d like to get done that day. Task wise I manage the website; creating new microsites when we take on new schools, updating the current ones and running the blog. I also run the social channels for the company. Marketing wise I design and organise the onsite printed materials, liaise with customers onsite for marketing opportunities and focus on site specific marketing. Long term we are looking into new ways of marketing as a company and how we can be creative which is exciting. Day to day it’s not all the same which keeps it all very interesting!
What do you think the future holds for Schools Plus?
I think Schools Plus is at a really really exciting time; with the development of the Customer Contact Centre and a change in attitude of the company we are moving forward in a positive and proactive way. With this attitude and a rethought focus I see us only becoming bigger and a more recognisable name within Schools themselves and letting management.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
My spare time is mostly spent with my 4 year old daughter, we spend a lot of time at the beach and just outdoors in between ferrying her around to various after school activities. I am really into photography so whenever we are out and about I’m usually taking photos and posting on social media. I still write on my blog and try to keep up with that side of my personal business.
You are a crayon in the box what colour would you be and why?
Blue! It’s probably my favourite colour but I think it also represents keeping calm in situations and figuring things out without getting too stressed which is something I do try to do.
Finally, what is your favourite song and why?
This is so tough. I’m a big listener to music and listen to such a variety of things depending on my mood but one of my all time favourite songs has to be Valerie Amy Winehouse.
Come back next week for another Schools Plus interview.
