We were proud to attend the Schools & Academies Show last Thursday at London’s ExCeL Centre—an event that brought together thousands of education leaders, suppliers, and policymakers under one roof to explore the future of UK education. As the largest education policy event in the country, the show provided an inspiring day of insight, conversation, and connection—and Schools Plus was right at the heart of it.
About the Show
First launched in 2011 to support schools navigating the expanding academy programme, the Schools & Academies Show has since grown into a landmark event in the education calendar. With two shows annually—London in spring and Birmingham in autumn—it attracts over 3,000 attendees, including school leaders, governors, trust executives, and solution providers.
The event offers:
- Expert-led seminars on topics such as recruitment, wellbeing, safeguarding, SEND, and sustainability
- Panel debates exploring the biggest challenges facing schools today
- Live EdTech demonstrations and innovations in school operations and facilities
- Unmissable networking opportunities with education decision-makers and influencers
Why We Were There
At Schools Plus, staying close to the evolving needs of schools is central to how we operate. Events like the Schools & Academies Show give us a unique opportunity to listen, learn, and connect—ensuring we continue to provide services that are relevant, responsive, and effective.
Understanding the challenges schools face—whether it’s funding pressures, staff shortages, or making better use of facilities—is key to how we shape our solutions. It also allows us to show what we can offer to new schools and trusts looking for a better way to manage lettings, maximise income, and support their communities.
Showcasing Our Solutions
Our stand was a hub of activity throughout the day, drawing visitors in with eye-catching design, informative displays, and even a basketball game that added a little fun to the serious conversations.
We showcased both the Schools Plus model and ENNI, our user-friendly booking platform, sparking interest from dozens of school leaders and trust representatives looking for new revenue opportunities and operational support.
Client Development Manager Steve Thornton summed it up perfectly:
“The stand showcased both of our fantastic products, and a big thank you goes to Hollee Glass for designing the setup and giveaways. James Curd and Sophia Idjer were also there representing Schools Plus and Enni, and we were busy all day speaking with schools interested in becoming our next partners.”
A Standout Presence
One of the highlights was the response to our branding and materials. Sophia Idjer, Head of Commercial at ENNI, said:
“I just wanted to say a massive thank you to Hollee Glass for all the prep for the show. It was clear how much thought had gone into everything. The stand looked amazing, the assets were reusable, and there was a noticeable gap between us and our competitors. Honestly, our stand looked so much better!”
Looking Ahead
With valuable new contacts made and important conversations started, we’re excited about the relationships and opportunities that will grow from this event. We’re already looking forward to the next Schools & Academies Show in Birmingham later this year.
