Greetings and very nearly seasons greetings. The winter chill is truly here; no second thoughts about getting your thermal undies out now. Oh, allow me to introduce myself, I am Sohail, the new Venue Manager at the Ark Academy in Wembley; I have been there a month now and what a site (pun intended): excellent location, magnificent looking to blend in with the local architecture and BIG.
Let me tell you a little about what goes on at this illustrious venue: well, there is football, football and more football; yes we have a 3G pitch, what is 3G anyway, can somebody enlighten me, was it borne out of Star Wars? the pitch is split into 3, which can be used as a full size too; then there is a little more football in the sports hall, however, the most interesting activity I have seen there is a Frisbee based sport, well done you ladies who have brought this over!
Away from sport, we have the Polish Village Language School, it really does have a village atmosphere on a Saturday, if only they sold bread and cakes too! There are also a couple of Arabic schools. And lets not forget the Worship groups who are regulars, reminding us all of the importance of feeding the soul, for those you that way inclined.
It is still early days for me but I do have some exciting events to look forward to: an aspiring young DJ concert organiser will be holding a concert showcasing new musical talents as well as established names in the main hall in January, the idea being to see in the new year with a party; watch this space current music scene fanatics for details of who is playing and tickets.
In March there is a Folk Dance show, this is going to be something quite unique and fun. More information to follow about that too in the new year. I am already looking forward to an exciting time at Ark Academy, there is room for more and varied activities, call me about hiring out the facilities. Stay warm!
