Prom
With the end of the school year upon us for Y11 students, last Friday was their final day….or more accurately, evening in school.
The teachers decided that they want to host the prom in our own main hall, but didn’t want it to feel like you were in the main hall. Solution: they put a marquee up inside the main hall!! Yes! That is how big our main hall is!
The tables and chairs were dressed so that the whole place looked like a wedding was to take place for about 200 students. It was pretty awesome. Balloons everywhere, a dance floor and the dj’s lights made the place look spectacular. I know I’m harping on about it when I can just add photos, but I’m still waiting for those to make their way to me. I promise I’ll post them as soon as I have them.
To add to the grandeur, a three course menu was available to allow for the different tastes of our final year students.
As part of the fun element of the evening, a photo booth was erected outside the main hall with teachers and students alike piling in at every opportunity to gain their place in the school’s photographic history books with a silly picture or ten. A sweet cart was also available and I’m sure a lot of students chose to have only the wares from the sweet cart as dinner. Well……why not? It’s the last day of school…..ever!
The guests of the evening turned up looking amazing and quite obviously very excited. In the end it looked like they’d had a great evening, so I’d call it a huge success, thanks to all of the organising and teachers working together.
As a venue manager, you see the aftermath of a lot of parties and weddings and I have to say, I have never seen it as tidy after an event as I did Friday evening! It was pretty unbelievable! Not one drop of drink was spilt…..not inside the building anyway. Not one bit of food on the floor. It looked like a purple chicken had been slaughtered for dinner with the photo booth man’s purple feather bower being used well and there were the odd sweet wrapper on the floor, but very clean otherwise.
With that then I’d like to wish every Y11 student a farewell and good luck for the future!
