Well September has finally come for all those parents who have been stressing about what to do with the kids during the holidays. Now you can relax knowing that they are safe and sound back in school and that your routine can return to normal. However, there may be many of you out there that are thinking, what can I do with my time now? Maybe, you want to spend some time without the other half or the kids. Or, maybe you are looking for something to do with them. Maybe, you’ve over indulged during the holidays and are thinking of things to do to get back into shape. For a lot of parents; you may be considering sending the kids to a football or karate club or some other such activity.
Well, I’m sure whatever you’re looking for; it’s not that far away. In fact, it may even be closer than you think. A lot of schools nowadays, open their doors in the evenings and weekends, to allow the public use of their excellent facilities. I manage more than one school’s after hour’s bookings and I can tell you from experience that you will be surprised what may be on offer in your local school. The majority of my schools have clubs using them that offer football for kids of all ages. I take bookings from clubs that teach a whole range of useful and fun skills from martial arts to juggling. Yes, I said juggling. You might be thinking what’s useful about being able to juggle? But, if you just breakdown what juggling involves. You can see that it teaches things like mental focus, hand eye coordination and discipline. Not bad for something you thought was just for clowns and fools.
If there is a point I’m trying to make here, even if it is under a deep veil, I think it’s the following. Why not support your local school; you’ll be surprised how much they try to support you and the community. School isn’t just for kids, it’s for the community. I firmly believe, our schools should be part of our communities. Let’s face it, as kids, we learn most about life at school or in our community.
