Guest blog: Steve Shooter, Venue Manager, York.
In a constantly changing world, it seems as though nothing changes faster than technology. I like to think I’m above average for a man of my advanced years when it comes to keeping up with the changing face of technology. When I grew up, there was a house phone, if you were lucky, in fact, my mum has had the same landline number for about 30 years. There were no mobiles, no internet, and no mp3s. If I wanted the computer power my current mobile phone has, I would have needed a truck to carry it and my record collection around with me.
So far, so old guy I hear you say. Well, you are at least partly right. I am an old guy, but I’m also a guy who lives in the 21st Century and who runs a business. In my spare time I run a comedy club, record podcasts and radio shows and have friends in other countries. To do all of those things, I need me some technology as a tool. I run two facebook accounts, and five twitter accounts. I have a linkedin, a Whatsapp and probably some others I have forgotten about.
SchoolsPlus as a company use several digital avenues to help promote both our clients and their customers, whether it be using social media to tweet about a new pilates class or the very blog you are reading, we have to use all the tools at our disposal. The company has an overall twitter account @schoolsplus through which we share all the latest news, events and school updates. We also create a twitter account for every school in the company portfolio which is run by our venue managers and their teams, giving a more local update.
Our Venue Managers also write a weekly blog, published through each schools individual website, which covers all manner of topics, from information about our venues, to details of regular users of the facilities to flights of fancy on a subject that pops up. I have written blogs about things as varied as the availability of our sports hall, using Wrestlemania as a springboard to self improvement and a birthday party my parents made me have when I turned 18. All of these things are tools to be used to promote you, your school, your club, your business and of course, our services.
If you need a space to hold your club, sporting event, wedding, worship service or almost any other event, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. All our details can be found at www.schoolsplus.co.uk along with links to each of our schools.
