As you maybe aware here at Dinnington high school we have a range of activities going on in the evenings.
These include football, cricket, yoga, ballroom dancing and also we have a Rounders team from Rounders England who come here to train one evening a week.
The National Rounders association was formed by a small group of teachers back in 1943, and the aim was of standardising the games rules. This was done by finding out about each area’s different ruling and then working together to standardise the rounders game. The association continued in a voluntary capacity to develop the rules, competitions, adult clubs and to support Rounders development in schools.
The England rounders team is based here in Sheffield and the first team was selected back in the 1970`s. The first matches were played against Wales.
The England Rounders team`s mission is `Ignite the Passion` and their vision is `Increased and sustained nationwide participation in rounders`
They have 4 values which are Fun, Passionate, straight-talking and Accountable.
This information is available on roundersengland.co.uk and on the website it says they aim to reach all the objectives they have set and surpass them this year.
Rounders is about having fun and enjoyment and the more people they can get playing, the better.
