This week we are going to hear from Charlotte Day, the newest Globe Supervisor. Charlotte joined us ten months ago and has been a fantastic addition to the Globe Team!
My Experience as a Schools Plus Employee
After re-locating to London in September 2015, I found myself tied down with university, trying to find a healthy balance between studies and socialising whilst also facing the challenges of finding a suitable job which could benefit me both financially and professionally. After hearing a lot of positive feedback about Schools Plus from my close friend, and now colleague, I decided to apply to the Elephant and Castle venue.
Although quite a distance from my home in East London, I believed that due to the school being specialised in Performing Arts it would be the perfect place to support and further my ambitions within the dance industry. After a successful interview with the venue manager I was welcomed with open arms into the team. They trained me in every aspect of the job, providing me with both manual training and also specialist courses, such as first aid, which I now hold an official qualification in.
Through my time at schools plus I have learnt how to work well within a busy events environment which puts my hospitality, communication and safe guarding skills to the test. I have also learnt how to communicate in other languages due to the diversity of our clients, who speak in languages such as Arabic and Spanish, to name a few. Schools Plus gave me the opportunity to work flexible hours around my university schedule, allowing me to feel very at home and secure in my studies. My growth individually has been exciting as I have spent only ten months here and already gained my first promotion from host to supervisor. I feel confident in myself and my ability to supervise a team successfully and most importantly receive the highest support from my team leader, manager and fellow colleagues.
My experience at schools plus so far has been incredible and I look forward to my future within this company!
