We are excited to be having a guest post from one of our clients who regularly uses Chobham Academy and it’s facilities. The E20 Organisation are an inclusive organisation made up of residents and local businesses in and around Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, E20.
Jonathan from the organisation has this to say:
“Having moved into the previous Athletes Village used during the Olympic Games in December 2013, my son was eager to start playing football down at the park with other new residents. The area was quite derelict at the time however, by April 2014 I started helping out with the refereeing the matches to about 20 young residents. Working with a Premier League club a the time, it was clear that there was a demand from local residents to start up a football academy and for myself to help develop their talent.
I spoke to Schools Plus who also shared my passion in offering FREE football sessions and provided the facility to the local community under a structured schedule.
There was an overwhelming response of other volunteers willing to help with funding to support with equipment and coaching costs.
3 years later the E20 Football Foundation has just registered it’s 500th member!! We have seen members move on to do really great things for here such as sign contracts with professional clubs, provided coaching qualifications to the community, employed community residents, gone on tour with a team to Barcelona, provided Premier Leagues tickets to members and many more fantastic developments.”
The E20 Organisation use a mixture of the 3G Pitch and MUGA Pitches at Chobham Academy. We are so proud of everything the E20 Organisation are providing the local community with. We at Schools Plus can’t wait to see what they do in the future. It is such a pleasure to be working alongside them.
