Hey, everyone! The dreaded Monday has been and gone which means it’s manager’s blog time!
Education News …
Are schools becoming dangerous places?
I was reading in the news yesterday about the Bailey Gwynne case – article here. It is a case that I found deeply concerning and it made think about how safe are schools today.
When I send my children to school you expect them to be safe from harm. However, the reality is they probably aren’t. It is all too easy for another student to have access to a knife at home and bring it into to school. They could then do some life changing damage as seen with Bailey Gwynne or the Bradford teacher stabbing.
The question is why is it so easy for dangerous weapons to be brought into schools by pupils. Should schools have reactive countermeasures and have tightened security like X-ray machines and security guards as they do in the USA. Or perhaps we could be proactive and educate young people on the dangers of offensive weapons because knife crime is also a worrying problem outside of a school environment as well.
Whatever the method to solve this problem I think there needs something to be done, because I along with probably all parents want our children to be safe at school.
Closer to home…
We are still looking for teams to use our adult and youth pitches for Saturday/Sunday matches next season so if you or anyone you know needs football pitches in South East London come and let us know!
The old school is being demolished nicely and is down to the final third and we are looking forward to what’s coming in its place!
We are now preparing for summer with pre-season rates coming into effect soon for the 3G pitch and we are looking forward to welcoming summer clubs who are coming in soon.
