Education News – Testing Children
Yesterday saw thousands of parents take their children out of school to protest against the tests their young children need to take. The campaigners claimed that children “over-tested, over-worked and in a school system that places more importance on test results and league tables than children’s happiness and joy of learning”. The chief school inspectorate OFSTED rejected this, “As I have long argued, children who fall behind in the early years of their education struggle to catch up in later years.”.
The question is who is right? On one hand there is the government and schools who need to know how well children are doing, how well they are learning and whether the curriculum needs changing, On the other hand, there is an ethical and moral question of should young children be put under the pressure and stress of exams? Older students taking GCSE’s and A levels crack under such pressure so why should young children who should be having fun and living without a care in the world be subjected to such rigorous testing?
End of Season Football
This season’s football is now coming to an end which means we have to get ready for next season. We are looking for adult, youth and mini soccer teams for our football pitches next season. It is a great opportunity to collate teams in one place and free parking on site for our customers is an added bonus.
