It’s that thime of year again! AFter weeks of over eating, over drinking and generally over indulging, we tell ourselves that now 2016 is nearly over we are going to miraculously change all our behaviour for the better in 2017.
There is a moment where we genuinely believe that we will wake up on January 1st with cast iron willpower, an unshakeable resolve and a magic ability to transform ourselves into that mythical, perfect person we have always wanted to be!
Then reality hits and we realise we hate going to the gym in January of 2017 as much as we did in January (and every month after that) of 2016. We realise our sweet tooth has not magically disappeared and we still crave everything that is bad for us!! Then we beat ourselves up for a few months for never being able to stick to our new year’s resolution. By the time that’s out of the way, before we realise it is September and, well, start again in 2018 because, yes, then we will be better for sure.
Doing more exercise is always on people’s new year’s resolutions list. But if you find that working out at the gym plugged into your earphones is a really boring way to spend your time, how about considering something different? What if there was a way to keep fit that didn’t even feel like exercise? What if you could have fun and make friends at the same time? Learning to dance salsa is great exercise, lots of fun and really sociable but it comes with a health warning – it can be addictive! But let’s face it, there are worse things that you could be addicted to than dancing!
If you fancy giving it a try, Sweetlead Salsa run weekly classes in social dancing every Wednesday at Wednesday school. For full details see our facebook page here, our website here or call 07961171970 or email info@sweetlead-salsa.co.uk.
Go on, try setting a New Year’s resolution that might actually last for years.
