Who are you and what’s your role with Schools Plus?
I’m Donna Courtney, Finance Assistant at Schools Plus.
How long have you been with Schools Plus?
It will be two years in April.
Which three words would you pick to best describe Schools Plus?
Dedicated. Passionate. Professional.
What are you working toward in your free time?
Regaining my fitness and getting back into running after a few months out due to injury.

What is the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your CV alone?
Winston Churchill is on my family tree. (Don’t ask me where though!)
What is your proudest moment since working for Schools Plus?
Being asked to take on the responsibility of the finance role for all of the schools. Its reassuring that others believe in you when sometimes you don’t have the belief in yourself.
Do you have a favourite quote or mantra that motivates you?
- PPPPP Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance. This was used a lot when I worked in the merchant navy, but I think it can be used in any situation you find yourself in. When you fail to prepare, you are preparing to fail.
- A woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle. Whether you’re a wife, a mother, an employee, as women, we can achieve anything we put our minds to. Its no longer a mans world.
How has Schools Plus helped you grow professionally?
The finance role isn’t where I started with Schools Plus, but it was a natural progression as I do have a financial background. It gives me the opportunity to test myself, and my abilities within a fast paced environment. I have to work to tight schedules, and manage my time productively to ensure the results are achieved.
What do you think the next year looks like for Schools Plus?
It’s a growing market and whilst there is competition, we, as a company pride ourselves on how much we’ve achieved in the last couple of years, and I think this will continue.
A big thank you to Donna for sharing with us some details about herself, we hope this blog helped you to get to know her better. Make sure you keep frequently checking back to the blog as we “meet” more and more members of the wonderful Schools Plus team.
