As we come to the end of January, we are more than half way through winter. This week the weather has been absolutely freezing, with temperatures falling below zero. All of my football clubs have still managed to play on the Astro, which is pretty astounding really.
Next month we see the cricket clubs start their indoor practice. I have had a lesson in getting out, and putting away the cricket nets, which is, I’m told, no mean feat! This has made me think of warmer weather, and getting my facilities booked up for the summer hols. I’m still looking for groups who would like to run some play schemes through the summer, I have some great deals available for the outside spaces. There is indoor availability still, for wet days, or when children would like to do crafts.
The outdoor space also lends itself well too weekend events too, with the car park being suitable for a car boot or vintage fair. I’ve had an enquiry from a National organisation who want to hold a one day event at the school, utilising class rooms, the main hall, an IT session, and in the afternoon, a fun outdoor event. We would be delighted to hold this event at Moulton, and I look forward to telling you more about this once the booking is confirmed.
On an entirely different note, I shall be taking part in the National bird count over the weekend, which is being organised by the RSPB. It will involve a quiet hour sitting by my garden window, counting birds. For a novice, the pack contained an identification sheet, as well as some other bird related goodies. I’m looking forward to it. I have seen some amazing birds in and around Market Harborough, including a Little Egret, Kingfisher and a buzzard. I’ve also seen an Otter in the river Welland, which was truly amazing. So, if you have a spare hour this weekend, count birds!
