Tia began working with Schools Plus as a host. When a position for Manager became available, with the support of her family, she applied.
Tia became Manager for St Johns in 2012 and has since taken on the role as manager for Northfleet Technology School and Thamesview as well. She loves her job and has learnt how to juggle managing 3 schools with her busy home life consisting of 4 sons, a lively puppy and a very supportive husband.
Tia says “Schools Plus is a great company to work for. Even though Schools Plus has expanded since I started, it still feels like I belong to a family and new managers have become an ever extending family. Regular conferences are a great boost and help charge the batteries and make you realise you are not alone. All managers have come across similar problems and experiences. The leadership team are always on hand to help and advise. A very supportive, friendly company to work for.”
Tia has also carried on the family feel –her husband is employed by Schools Plus and helps on his days off and she has also employed her eldest son, Chris. He started as a 15 year old, whilst studying his GCSE’s, being furniture lugger and door opener, and has now grown into a very much valued and confident staff member. He is now 17 and studying his A levels and, though he still lugs furniture, he has grown in confidence and is able to deal with customers, customer queries, basic first aid, working in a team and liaising with a diverse selection of people and cultures. As soon as he is 18, Chris will be ready to take on his own shifts and officially be responsible and legal to be a key holder.
Chris’ school recently arranged interviews with CEOs from commercial companies and his feedback was great. They stressed that they were impressed with his employment with Schools Plus and that his work will stand him in good stead for any career. Albeit, he may himself become a Schools Plus Manager.
