It has been a time of change for Schools Plus and we are back today to share some further company developments.
Following on from our previous announcement regarding our founder James, whom will be moving to China to build Schools Plus 2. We are ready to share who will be joining Schools Plus as our new Managing Director.
Schools Plus are excited to be welcoming, Tony Lock and as of the 1st June 2019 he is our new Managing Director.
We were grateful to get some time with Tony to talk to him about his thoughts on joining the company and where he his looking to take the business.
Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I am very happily married to my wife, Karen, and we have been together for almost 20 years now. I have two grown up boys, Thomas and Jacob.
I enjoy all sports, particularly cricket and football. Recently, I have really got into the Chicago Bears NFL team, having visited ‘The Windy City’ a lot over the last couple of years, and I am hoping for a Super Bowl run in the 2019 / 2020 season.
I am a trustee of my local branch of Age Concern, and I will be working hard with the team in Bracknell Forest to fund raise for a new bigger facility, so we can help even more families struggling with Alzheimer’s.
What has your career looked like so far?
My first job was a Radar technician in the Royal Air Force. Leaving the RAF, by chance I got into the printing industry. I have worked in Customer Service, Technical, Sales, and Marketing roles for companies such as Xerox, Toshiba, Oki and Duplo International.
I’ve been lucky to coach some amazing people and together I am proud of the things I achieved in my business career so far.
What attracted you to Schools Plus?
Education is probably the most important factor in the success of a country. Working for a company that generates over £3 million pounds a year of flexible income for schools, and pays them on time, is something that immediately caught my attention.
What are you most looking forward to doing working with Schools Plus?
Getting to know the people inside the business, our schools and our customers.
Can you share any short term plans and long term goals you have for Schools Plus?
My short term goal is to continue the strong income growth for our schools, which is really positive right now.
Longer term we shall see. I have been so impressed by the ideas within the business already. I hope to use my experience and skills to harness all this positive energy and grow the amount of income we generate for schools year on year.
What does a new Managing Director mean for our customers and clients?
Two things – First continued excellence operationally, as I truly believe we set the benchmark in this area. And second, bringing more and more customers into the schools, funding more teachers and improving facilities even further.
With our values being the forefront of Schools Plus, which do you resonate most with?
I have found there is a real ‘Schools Plus personality’ here, so good with people is a contender. But if I had to pick one, Integrity. Schools put their trust in Schools Plus; doing what we say we are going to do, making sure we are there on time, every time, and delivering on generating the income for schools is something to be very proud of. I will be very focused on this.
We hope that you will join us in welcoming Tony to Schools Plus.
We know that his previous experience and incredible skills, will help us continue to thrive and develop allowing us to carry on with our core mission; transforming community lettings across the country and providing much needed additional income to schools.
