Welcome back to another week of our Schools Plus Interview series – Who do you think we are?
In this weekly series members of the Schools Plus team will be asked a series of questions about them and their job here at Schools Plus. We thought this would be a great way to find out more about our staff. There is a huge array of jobs and people here at Schools Plus so every interview will be totally different. You will get an insight into their day to day life, their time before working here and a bit more about the team.
Who are you?
Dave Maher
What is your role at Schools Plus?
I’m a Venue Manager
As Schools Plus is all over the country where are you based?
I have 4 sites based in the Sheffield and Nottingham. Dinnington High School, Bulwell Academy, Co-op Academy in Stoke on Trent and a new site Brinsworth Academy
How long have you worked for Schools Plus?
It feels like 10 years but in fact I have only been here just over a year
What did you do before you worked at Schools Plus?
I worked extensively in retail, working my way up the ranks to Store Manager level.
What is your favourite part about working for Schools Plus?
I enjoy building a strong relationship with our partner schools and helping out where ever I can. It doesn’t matter if it’s cleaning the sports hall floor to doing some logistic work for the leadership teams, every little helps.
Can you describe a typical working day for you?
Typically, it is visiting each of my sites and spending time in each of the schools catching up with various people and planning what we are going to do in the best interest of the school. Also catching up with my Team Leaders and Venue Supervisors who do such a terrific job not only for us and but for the schools we serve.
What do you think the future holds for Schools Plus?
I see us continuing to help different schools and their communities get the most out of the facilities and really making a difference
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Hmmm spare time?? I enjoy a variety of things from MMA, Pro Wrestling & Keeping Fit to History, Traveling and Music.
You are a crayon in the box what colour would you be and why?
I would be lime green, weird at 1st but you sort of get used to me
Finally, what is your favourite song and why?
This is way too hard to choose as it all depends on your mood. The last track to play on my phone was Overload by Zappacosta
