Meet The Manger
Hi there! For this weeks blog I thought I would give you a bit of insight into who I am, what I love, and my journey with Schools Plus.
I promise, I smile a lot more in real life!
I have two passions and they are Music & Events! And my life pretty much revolves around these two passions. I have an eclectic taste in music but I absolutely love 70/80’s Soul and Gospel Music. And of course my favourite type of Event to be involved in is Music Events! In my free time I enjoy catching up with friends & family, working with young people at my local Church, attending Music events, and on the rare occasions that I get to watch TV, I’m usually watching Crime Dramas, The Food Network or Big Bang Theory re-runs.
I am one of those very lucky people who has managed to actually work in the fields that I am interested in, which has helped work to occasionally feel more like play. Throughout my career I have juggled positions in both Music & Events, often combing the two. Through my work as an Events Manager I have organised everything from Weddings & Bridal Showers to Conferences & Concerts. The bulk of my work in Music has been as a Choir Director/Manager and this has enabled me to have many exciting opportunities including performances on XFactor, Britain’s Got Talent and at the BBC Proms at The Royal Albert Hall. I also previously worked as a Choir Instructor in Primary Schools in South West London before making the transition to a full time Venue Manager.
I started out with Schools Plus in 2014 as a Venue Host and became Venue Supervisor a few months later. Through the encouragement of my Manager and colleagues I decided to apply for a Venue Manager positionm and after an intense interview I got the job! I currently manage three awesome sites, Ark John Keats Academy in Enfield, King Harold Academy in Waltham Abbey & The Archer Academy in East Finchley. I have already learnt so much since becoming Venue Manager which has made me an even better Events professional. I look forward to learning and growing much more in Schools Plus.
