I don’t know about you but, I can safely say that I don’t know anyone that doesn’t like a good film. Whether that is a good comedy or an all-out action blockbuster, there’s usually a genre for everyone. I myself like a good sci-fi or horror. There’s nothing like being able to sit down for a couple of hours and forget that the world we know exists. Going to the cinema or staying at home with the curtains drawn and the lights off, gives us that escapism. Quite frankly, with today’s stresses, we really need an outlet that allows us to forget our own troubles.
Of course, the movies are more than just about being able to forget your own troubles. They are a way of inspiring us, a way of bringing light to situations that we may never have known much about. Isn’t that what films like ‘Schindler’s List’, ‘American Sniper’, ‘My Left Foot’, ‘Nixon’, ‘Remember The Titans’, ‘We Were Soldiers’, ‘World Trade Centre’, ‘Twelve Years A Slave’ and ‘The Theory Of Everything’ are partly about? Each of these films shows us an insight into our own history and the hero’s that standout through remarkable hardship or stand up to tyranny.
I was lucky enough to find myself on the set of a new movie that’s due to be released in the next couple of months. One of the things that struck me about the filming process was the need for locations of a great diversity. This of course made me think of all of the schools that Schools Plus manages. As I worked through our website, viewing the photos of our schools, it certainly became apparent how lucky we are to be able to work in some of the most amazing settings that this country has to offer. We have schools that look like they were created for the future by an advanced civilisation beyond our own. Yet others could have quite easily been plucked from a Jane Austin novel. I would really encourage anyone thinking of making a movie in the UK to take a look at what we at Schools Plus can offer you, in regards to some of the best film locations you could possibly ask for.
